It was Erik Vandenburg, Max's father, who saved Hans's life during World War I and taught Hans to play the accordion. Percy really wants to find his mom and be safe with his family Mom. Liesel has just a small suitcase containing clothes and the stolen book: The Grave Digger's Handbook. Those in the basement stay even after the all-clear signal has been given to hear the end of the chapter. While the guards debate, Death admits that he now knows he made a mistake in lingering because he became so curious about the girl, the book thief. Liesel crawls next to him and falls asleep. Anyone can earn credit-by-exam regardless of age or education level.
Reinhold Zucker, who holds a grudge against Hans because of a card game loss, takes Hans's usual seat on the truck and dies in the accident. Before they reach their destination, Liesel's brother dies and is buried in a strange town by strange people. The officer told them to drop their weapons but Ares sizzled their cars into a pulp. He learns that Zeus's master lightning bolt was stolen, and that Percy is the prime suspect, and that if the bolt is not returned before the Summer Solstice, there will be a war among the gods. It is at his funeral where she sees a dropped book and takes it. Zusak lives in Sydney with his wife and daughter.
In an ironic twist, it is this book that holds the key to Max's life. Max is overcome with emotion and breaks down. Ilsa Hermann sees Liesel take the book and decides to share her own love of books with Liesel by inviting her into her library. Just then heavy rain started. With the boy is the book thief, a few years older, but Death knows it's her. He shows his gratitude for their kindness - especially Liesel's - by creating a book, The Standover Man, about their developing friendship.

Hari Singh reached the railway station, Lucknow Express was about to go. And worse, he's angered a few of them. It is noted that Alex is a member of the Nazi Party but not a racist, and that he will do anything to support his family, even if that means being in the party. He is taken to Camp Half-Blood in New York, a camp for kids just like him that is safe from monsters that like to attack half-bloods. Hans promised Frau Vandenburg that if she ever needed something, she could contact him.
When Conn wakes up, he can feel the devastation of the loss of his locus stone. He understood that Anil knew about the last night episode. Half asleep, Liesel dreams of speaking at a rally where Hitler smiles at Liesel, and Liesel, who is illiterate, greets him in broken German. She begins to realize that they have much in common. Finally, he blows open the lock on the door to find Nevery on the other side, attempting to lock-pick it open. It is a slow process since Hans does not read well himself. He handed over fifty rupees note to Hari and told him that he would be regularly paid now.
A Good Girl Max is safe for now in the Hubermanns' house. Death picked the book up and took it with him, now he is giving it back to her. Hans discovers Liesel's book and starts giving her reading lessons in the basement. Hans is sent to Essen, where he is part of a squad that cleans up after air raids. They get into it and Clarisse whoops on him until she tries to give him a swirly, then to her astonishment, she gets totally soaked by a toilet explosion.
The summer camp turns out to be Camp Half-Blood. However, instead of arresting Hans, the Nazi Party accepts his membership and forces him to join the military. Together, Conn and Nevery head to the site of the magic-draining machine. He also has Annabeth and Grover too. She spends a lot of time with Alex in his shop, and one day, in 1945, Max Vandenburg shows up. Soon, both Hans and Alex are drafted into the army.
Hitler violently attacked the Jews in his speeches and preached hatred to his followers; Liesel's brother dying while fleeing persecution and poverty is juxtaposed with this. She gets up and enters the parade again, reciting words from The Word Shaker. Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. After taking dinner Anil slept peacefully. Liesel steals a book from the fire.
Death provides glimpses of the story's future but doesn't narrate in detail, something he will do as the novel progresses. Rosa does the laundry for a number of wealthy townspeople, including the Mayor. In 1943, the Jews continue to march through Molching, and Liesel always looks for Max. There was conflict in the mind of Hari Singh. The three take a bus, a train, a truck, and a taxi cab to make their way across America, from New York to Los Angeles, where the gates of the Underworld are located. She instead, sneaks into the house and steals the book.
